2018 Man Pavilion: IAMAI and the Burnbots

This year at Burning Man, artist Joe Crossley (Astral Projekt) will be producing and curating a collection of Human/ AI inspired media art pieces under the name IAMAI. The ethos is to create a ceremonial space where we can acknowledge and celebrate the declaration of co- existence between man and machine.

Artists from around the world are invited to submit media artworks to this theme to be displayed in a truly immersive setting at the foot of the man base this year.

Details on how you can be involved are below.

PROJECTOR LAYOUT: 6 x Projector 360 ̊ media surface (1920 x 1200 @ 15k Lumens Epson laser Projectors)

PROJECTION AREA: The Projection area will be a full 360 ̊ Wall intersected by two doorways(not show on output template)

OUTPUT FILE INFORMATION:
Green Areas denote the projection area, content falling outside these areas will be not visible. The grey area is the unused projector throw. The green areas will be stitched at both ends creating a full 360 degree surface. Animators should supply finished files with their camera angles included. Files will be played as received. Audio should be embedded in the video file, we wont be accepting files with detached audio unless pre arranged for a surround sound experience.

Video: 5760 x 3240 Pixels @ 60 FPS – DXV 3 Compression .MOV files.

Files should be no longer than 12 Minutes.

Audio: If Stereo then 44.1Hz, If using Surround sound then 6 channels will be arranged as

per Projector Arrangement (Pro1-6)

The festival kicks off next month

There’s a dazzling projection art event coming to Sharjah.

Sharjah Light Festival is returning for 2022 with 11 nights of colourful projections and music. If this year is anything like previous festivals, our eyes are in for a treat.

The colourful festival is the first and only of its kind in the region and has been running for over ten years. It attracts thousands of visitors to up to 20 locations in Sharjah each year. The designs are inspired by local culture, stories and traditions.

The 2022 Sharjah Light Festival goes from February 9 to February 20 and is organized by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority.

The festival brings a kaleidoscope of creative lights and colour to Sharjah’s architecture. Diverse locations are featured during the annual show, with light and sound spectacles that transform them. (Have your camera ready.) The festival uses energy-saving lighting technology and all the lights and projectors used have passed certification for environmental compliance.

The Sharjah Light Festival also showcases the emirate’s rich heritage and historical monuments. Local and international artists, musicians and light technicians collaborate to showcase the emirate’s achievements.
